Tuberculosis cases down in Armenia
The incidence of reported tuberculosis (TB) decreased in Armenia by 63% in the past ten years, Anush Khachatryan, head of the Data Management and Monitoring Department of the National Tuberculosis Program, told reporters on Monday.
She highlighted the 5-year program to fight against tuberculosis launched in 2003. The measures implemented as part of the program is aimed to reducing the TB incidence rate and mortality.
According to him, the comparison of the data from 2022 and 2023 indicates a 14% decline in the mortality rate.
Khachatryan reported that 2023 also saw a decrease in the tuberculosis morbidity and mortality rates.
"Last year one death per 100,000 population was recorded," the specialist noted.
