Political analyst insists on efforts towards reconciliation in Armenian society
Political analyst Stepan Danielyan believes the detention of dozens of Combat Brotherhood members and the attempted attack on the police station in Yerevan’s Nor-Nork district on Sunday were a show staged by the current Armenian authorities to divert people’s attention from the planned surrender of four border villages in Tavush Province to Azerbaijan.
In his opinion, the real “agony” of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s regime will begin and bring positive results only when a relevant political agenda and discourse is formed.
When asked by Panorama.am to elaborate on the political agenda he referred to, Danielyan said: "The political agenda should be set by political forces. For example, in 2018 many people took to the streets because they believed that there was no social and judicial justice in the country. Today, society is divided into rival groups that hate each other. It’s necessary to achieve social and political reconciliation in society. Besides, political forces should unveil the shadow cabinet so that people know who would come to power in case of changes and how they would build their foreign policy.”
Asked whether there are any political forces or individuals who have formed such agendas and can initiate political changes, Danielyan stressed that individuals are not a political force. “It’s about groups or organizations with political ambitions, which should form certain rules by which they would later lead the country. At the moment, I don't see political forces that meet these requirements," he added.
