Expert decries ex-defense minister's 'arbitrary' detention
Political analyst Suren Surenyants has denounced the ongoing “arbitrary and politically motivated” detention of former Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan, who has been in custody since September 2021.
In a social media post on Monday, the expert accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of attempting to shift the blame for the 2020 war defeat onto the Armenian army.
“Former Defense Minister David Tonoyan remains in jail by Pashinyan's arbitrary decision and for political reasons,” he wrote.
“Thus, Pashinyan seeks to put the blame for the catastrophe on the Armenian armed forces in an effort to save his skin,” Surenyants stated.
