MP Tigran Abrahamyan marks April war anniversary
Opposition Pativ Unem faction MP Tigran Abrahamyan took to Facebook on Tuesday to commemorate the eight anniversary of the four-day April war in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
“Eight years have passed since the April 2016 hostilities. The feats and decisive actions carried out by Armenian troops back then are still relevant nowadays, because Azerbaijan, “being punched in the face”, clearly realized that any war or military action against Artsakh and Armenia was not an “easy walk”,” the deputy wrote on Facebook.
“From April 2 to 5, the Artsakh Defense Army lost 75 servicemen. The fallen troops had one mission – to protect the homeland at any cost. And they did it even at the cost of their own lives. Azerbaijan’s military death toll stood at some 700-800 people, while some sources put it at 1,000 people.
“In April 2016, the army and the public knew that there was a government, which not would bear responsibility for any action of its servicemen, but also would use all its potential for the homeland defense," Abrahamyan noted.
“Today carries two key messages. First, Armenians can defend themselves at any cost. Second, the country (in this case the authorities), which considers the great mission of its sons to be accomplished "for nothing", cannot provide prospects for its people," the MP stressed, paying tribute to all those who fell defending Armenia and Artsakh.
Abrahamyan also shared a photo of an Azeri attack helicopter downed by Artsakh troops during the 2016 hostilities.
