Russia rejects false narrative about Nagorno-Karabakh
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has denied the “false” claims that Russia and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) did not help Armenia during the conflict escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The diplomat said on the air of the Zvezda TV channel on Wednesday that Armenia made decisions on Nagorno-Karabakh under the influence of the West.
"All those promoting the false narrative that Russia and the CSTO were responsible for Yerevan’s decisions on Karabakh are spreading lies,” she said. “Armenia made these decisions after consultations with the West.”
Zakharova warned that the possible renewed escalation between Armenia and Azerbaijan depends on Armenia's willingness to allow the EU, US and UK to negatively impact the situation in the region and the country.
