Man detained in central Yerevan not Azerbaijani
Social media reports suggesting that an Azerbaijani saboteur has been detained in central Yerevan are disinformation.
Armenian Interior Ministry spokesman Narek Sargsyan told Panorama.am on Tuesday that the arrested man was a Russian citizen who was taken to a police station on suspicion of possession and use of drugs.
"On April 8, at around 11:25 p.m., police officers on duty at the intersection of Mashtots Avenue and Amiryan Street detained a citizen of the Russian Federation on suspicion of possession and use of drugs and took him to the central police station,” Sargsyan said.
"No drugs were found in his possession. The man, who turned out to be a tourist, was set free," the spokesman added.
