Alen Simonyan's mother, who spat at protesters, among attendees of classical music concert
A concert marking women's holidays was held under the auspices of Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan in Yerevan.
According to a parliament statement on Tuesday, the concert was part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the Komitas National Quartet. Music pieces by famous Armenian and foreign composers were performed at the event.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's spouse, Anna Hakobyan, Alen Simonyan’s wife, Maram Margaryan, female lawmakers, employees of state agencies and teachers of Armenia’s cultural and educational institutions attended the concert.
However, the list of those present at the concert published by the parliament press office is incomplete.
Photos from the classical music concert show that Alen Simonyan’s mother, who came under fire after spitting at opposition protesters and showing the middle finger to them in 2023 was among the attendees.
The concert was also attended by Armenian Constitutional Court judge Seda Safaryan, Supreme Judicial Council member Naira Hovsepyan, Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan and others.
