Artsakh MP hits back at Pashinyan
Artsakh lawmaker Metakse Hakobyan on Wednesday denounced Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s latest statements and reaffirmed the ultimate goal of the Artsakh Armenians to return to their homes.
Addressing the parliament earlier on Wednesday, Pashinyan repeated his warnings against the formation of an Artsakh government-in-exile in Armenia, reiterating that “there is only one legitimate government in Armenia.” Also, he accused Nagorno-Karabakh’s Yerevan-based leaders of efforts to “seize power in Armenia”.
"Yes, we all know that there is only one government, but it doesn't mean that we have no right to carry out any activities,” Hakobyan, who represents the Justice faction, told reporters during the break of a court hearing in RPA Deputy Chairman Armen Ashotyan’s case.
"We have repeatedly announced that no one can prevent us from carrying out our activities. Moreover, anyone making such an attempt will become our opponent. If we are fighting to return home, it does not mean that we seek to come to power in Armenia or share power here. I regret to say that if we had a pro-Armenian and national government, it would have taken on this burden and tried to resolve the issue through negotiations," the MP stressed.
Rejecting Pashinyan’s claims about exiled Artsakh officials’ plans to “seize power” in Armenia, Hakobyan called him the “king of the yellow press who never became a country’s leader".
