Political analyst: Pashinyan admits even unilateral concessions won’t guarantee peace
Political analyst Suren Surenyants has reacted to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s latest statements on the start of the border delimitation and demarcation process in Tavush Province and a “dichotomy between historical Armenia and real Armenia”.
"No rational person would demand that Pashinyan safeguard the security of historical Armenia. Pashinyan’s dichotomy between “historical Armenia and real Armenia” is false and is aimed at eliminating our legitimate demand, which is crystal clear; it’s about the creation of real guarantees for peace,” he wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
Addressing lawmakers earlier on Wednesday, Pashinyan said Armenia was ready to start border delimitation with Azerbaijan from four villages in Tavush Province, adding, however, it would not guarantee peace for the country.
“In other words, Pashinyan acknowledges that even unilateral and humiliating concessions [to Azerbaijan] will not guarantee peace. But instead of admitting his policy failure and resigning, he is targeting "historical Armenia", which as a political category is revolving in his and perhaps some other people's sick minds and has nothing to do with our demand for border delimitation/demarcation based on balanced, agreed principles and maps,” the analyst added.
