Pashinyan: Armenian-Russian relations experiencing difficult times
Armenian-Russian relations are going through a difficult period, however, they are of paramount importance for Armenia's statehood, economy and security, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Wednesday.
Addressing the parliament, Pashinyan claimed that his government had made no mistakes in relations with Russia.
“There is no such case where our partners can accuse us of failure to fulfil our obligations, but there are numerous cases that indicates the opposite,” he stated.
“But I’d like to underline that we do not seek disputes with Russia. Not because we don't have the means or power, but because we appreciate the positive aspects in our relations.”
Pashinyan stressed the importance of understanding the reasons for changes in relations between the two countries.
“There is a transition from historical Armenia-Russia relations to real Armenia-Russia relations. It's sometimes as painful as our internal transformation from historical Armenia to real Armenia," he added.
