Armenia, Georgia agree to resume border delimitation
Armenia and Georgia have agreed to resume the long-paused border delimitation process, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan says.
He told reporters on Thursday that the two countries had renewed their commissions on border delimitation.
"The Armenian and Georgian governments have reached an agreement to resume border delimitation, which has been suspended for a long time now,” Kostanyan noted. “At this point, both countries have renewed their commissions, but no meetings have yet been held. We hope that the first meeting will not be late.”
In response to a question about the possible handover of a territory in Armenia’s Lori Province to Georgia alleged by some media reports, the deputy FM said: “The delimitation work is aimed at restoring the borderline with all of Armenia’s neighbors that existed at the time of signing the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.”
