Education minister dispels concerns over fake terror alert for Yerevan schools
Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan on Friday dispelled concerns over a false alert of terrorist attacks on schools in Yerevan.
She warned of a recent increase in hoax terror threats on social media, adding that law-enforcement authorities were investigating the latest fake alert on Telegram channels which forced many parents to take their children away from schools on Friday morning.
“I believe parents and school staffs have no reason to panic," the minister told reporters, assuring that the situation was under control.
She noted that Armenian information security experts warned that similar fake alerts using the same photos were spread on the internet to intimidate people in other cities a few months ago.
"We should realize that hybrid warfare has also become part of our reality," the minister stressed.
