MP Tigran Abrahamyan meets with imprisoned opposition activists
Opposition Pativ Unem faction MP Tigran Abrahamyan on Monday visited the Armavir Penitentiary to meet with political prisoners Vazgen Saghatelyan and Narek Samsonyan.
In late March, the two activists, who co-host the Imnemnimi podcast, were given two-month pretrial detention on charges of “hooliganism” after they used slur language against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government.
“The men clearly realize why they have found themselves behind bars,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook. “There is absolutely no legal process going on. The authorities are just trying to show that they are ready to take any unlawful action to save themselves.”
“Narek and Vazgen are sending their warm greetings and expressing gratitude to all their supporters,” he added.
