Arrested government critic moved to Armenian Investigative Committee
Armenian government critic Samvel Vardanyan was moved from his detention center to the Investigative Committee in Yerevan on Wednesday morning, human rights lawyer Ruben Melikyan said.
A group of human rights activists, opposition MPs and members of the Yerevan City Council had gathered outside the detention facility to express support for the young man who was detained on suspicion of hooliganism after confronting pro-government MP Hakob Aslanyan on a bus in Yerevan on Monday.
Lawmakers and other politicians drove behind the police vehicle carrying Vardanyan.
Activists and lawyers claim that Samvel Vardanyan was beaten while being escorted to the detention center in a police car.
