Conference in Antelias to address Azerbaijan's genocidal acts against Artsakh Armenians
Under the auspices of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, the Cilicia Analytical Platform will host a pan-Armenian conference titled “Reinstating the Indigenous Rights of Artsakh People: Confronting Azerbaijan’s Genocidal Policy” from April 20 to 22, at the Catholicosate of Cilicia in Antelias.
The conference will convene 30 experts in history, international law, and politics from Armenia, Artsakh, and the Armenian Diaspora. The timing of the conference in April underscores the urgent need to address the threat of ongoing genocides, driven by the impunity of past genocides and the current genocidal actions perpetrated by Azerbaijan in Artsakh, with the support of Turkey, the Catholicosate of Cilicia reports.
Distinguished attendees include Luis Moreno Ocampo, former prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, invited by His Holiness Catholicos Aram I. Also in attendance will be Vartan Osganian, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, who has long been engaged in negotiations regarding the Artsakh conflict and currently leads the commission dedicated to pursuing solutions for the Artsakh issue. Mario Nalbandian, Vice-President of the Socialist International and council member, who is also a member of the said commission, will accompany Ocampo.
Ocampo will also deliver a lecture on the challenges of applying the Genocide Covenant and the underlying reasons for the obstacles encountered in fulfilling this crucial imperative.
