Armenian villagers protest over lack of irrigation water
More than a hundred residents of Vardanashen, a village in Armenia’s Armavir Province, on Friday blocked the Yerevan-Margara highway running through the village to protest over the lack of irrigation water.
The villagers demand that the Armenian government, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures and the Armavir Governor’s Office give clarifications over the lack of irrigation water supplies to the village for a long time, Shamshyan.com repots.
“We have run out of patience, taking such a desperate step,” the protesters said, adding no government agency managed to deal with the problem.
“We have always made regular payments for irrigation water, now we are not going to open the road until they give a clear answer to our questions," they added.
