Lavrov: Russia still considers Armenia an ally
Russia still considers Armenia an ally not only legally, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said, highlighting Moscow's role for Yerevan's security and economic development.
"We are allies with Armenia after all. We continue to consider the two countries as allies. We are allies legally and not only, and there are people who understand Russia’s key role for Armenia's security and economic development," Lavrov said in an interview with the radio stations Sputnik, Govorit Moskva and Komsomolskaya Pravda on Friday.
He decried the efforts of the US and EU to “tear Armenia away” from Russia as “brazen and inexcusable”.
