Armenian expert slams land handover to Azerbaijan
Political analyst Edgar Elbakyan has denounced the planned handover of four border villages in Armenia’s Tavush Province to Azerbaijan, warning Yerevan’s unilateral concessions to Baku will not stop.
"Every time they cede new lands [to Azerbaijan], Armenia's pro-Turkish authorities try to convince people that “this is the last time”. But there is no end in sight," he wrote on Facebook on Friday.
“It will stop only when there are as many Armenians left in Yerevan as in Stepanakert, while the Etchmiadzin Cathedral ends up like Kanach Zham (St. John the Baptist Church) in Shushi,” Elbakyan said, adding the villages of Azatamut, Kayan and Tigranashen, as well as the administrative territories of Jiliza village “are next in line” to be surrendered to Baku.
“Subsequently, April 24 (the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day) will be declared as a working day, the Turks will settle in Armenia and the like.
“This is a political issue, which is about the occupation of Armenia by Turkey. Those who attribute this problem to the “incompetent government” cannot offer any solutions, because they don't even understand what they are solving," Elbakyan stated.
