MP Tigran Abrahamyan blasts unilateral concessions to Baku
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has denounced the Armenian leadership for unilateral concessions to Azerbaijan, rejecting the claims that the planned handover of four border villages to Baku are part of a border delimitation and demarcation process.
“As part of their anti-national policies, the Armenian authorities have launched a process which follows neither the international practice nor the Armenian legislation,” the MP, who represents the opposition Pativ Unem faction, told reporters at a protest against the surrender of border areas to Baku near the Holy Mother of God Church in Voskepar, a border village in Tavush Province.
The opposition deputy stated that there were reports of threats and pressure against some people by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's government, which sparked clashes in the area.
Abrahamyan stresses the local residents demand that the border delimitation process comply with the Armenian law.
"This clearly does not fit into the negotiation process. The authorities are obviously engaged in their long-standing practice of land handover to Azerbaijan under the pretext of border delimitation and demarcation," said the MP.
