Political analyst: Pashinyan has long lost his status as Armenian PM
Nikol Pashinyan has long ceased to be Armenia’s prime minister, becoming Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's “ambassador” in the country, political analyst Suren Surenyants claims.
He quoted Aliyev as saying on Tuesday that Armenia “must change its constitution, refuse to use Mount Ararat as a symbol and ensure a land connection between Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan” to make peace with Azerbaijan.
“Nikol Pashinyan has accepted all of Aliyev's demands except one. Moreover, he has become the main mouthpiece disclosing them to Armenian society,” Surenyants posted on Facebook on Wednesday. “That’s why I claim that Pashinyan has lost the status of Armenian prime minister for a long time, becoming Aliyev's ambassador in the country.”
“I am sure that Pashinyan is not basically against the implementation of clause 9 of the 9 November 2020 trilateral statement. He simply opposes Russian control over the road passing through Syunik Province. Thus, he embarked on an adventure of changing the geopolitical orientation, sacrificing Artsakh and putting the fate of Armenia on the line,” he noted.
