Seven arrested after jeering at Pashinyan's wife
Seven people have been detained following an incident involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s spouse, Anna Hakobyan.
Hakobyan was jeered by several dozen people when she visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex in Yerevan to commemorate the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on April 24. Upon seeing her, the people began chanting “Genocidal Nikol!”, “Nikol the Turk!” and “Nikol the traitor!”.
The Investigative Committee told Panorama.am on Thursday that the people were arrested on charges of publicly inciting hatred and intolerance under Article 329.2 of the Criminal Code.
