Expert: Armenia engaged in a 'diplomatic battle'
Armenia is currently engaged in a diplomatic war, claims Ruben Melkonyan, Dean of the Faculty of Eastern Studies at Yerevan State University.
“After 2020, the hot phase of the war is over but a diplomatic battle has started," he told a discussion hosted by the All-Armenian Council of Diplomats NGO in Yerevan on Monday.
Melkonyan criticized Armenian Foreign Ministry officials, stating “real diplomats” are not employed by it.
"We are losing this battle because genuine diplomats are not part of the ministry," the expert stated.
"There are no creative diplomats in the Foreign Ministry, most of the “diplomats” there are just adapting to everything,” he said.
