Diplomat: Artsakh issue remains unresolved
The Artsakh issue remains unresolved and has not been forgotten despite all claims of the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaderships, former Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian states.
Speaking at a discussion hosted by the All-Armenian Council of Diplomats NGO on Monday, he underscored that the Artsakh Armenians had to leave their homes and find refuge in Armenia as a result of the ethnic cleansing and genocidal policy by Azerbaijan.
"This issue is not forgotten, it cannot be forgotten contrary to all claims made by the Azerbaijani and Armenian authorities," Oskanian emphasized.
The former foreign minister says Armenia's problems are naturally in the spotlight currently, adding the issue of Armenia's independence has become a priority because the country’s borders from Tavush Province to the south are under threat.
"Armenia has become so vulnerable mainly because we lost Artsakh. For three decades we were safe because Artsakh and its adjacent territories served as an impregnable fortress ensuring peace in the country. But we lost it, and Armenia with its borders became vulnerable," Oskanian noted.
