Armenian diplomats voice support for Tavush movement
The All-Armenian Council of Diplomats NGO has expressed support for ongoing protests against the unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan coordinated by the Tavush for the Homeland movement.
In a statement on Wednesday, Armenian diplomats denounced the campaign targeting Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, who has actively joined protests against the handover of four Tavush border villages to Baku.
“The regime’s manipulation attempts and efforts to localize the so-called border demarcation and delimitation, which actually amounts to an illegal process of unilateral concessions unfolding in Tavush, have failed, because contrary to their expectations, the Tavush for the Homeland movement launched by Tavush people has spread throughout Armenia. Broad masses have come to realize that this pressing issue does not concern only Tavush residents,” the organization said.
“This is the reason why the ruling regime is terrified by broad public consolidation and any action leading to internal solidarity. Therefore, they have started to use their favorite tools of spreading lies and discrediting prominent individuals, threatening their own people with a war and falsely claiming there is no other option.
"The All-Armenian Council of Diplomats reaffirms its unwavering support for Tavush for the Homeland, a movement created with absolutely honest and patriotic motives, and strongly condemns any attempt to denigrate the selfless struggle of our compatriots who have stood up for their homeland, dignity and justice,” reads the statement.
