Armenian Interior Ministry says demining conducted near Tavush village
The Armenian Interior Ministry said a large number of police forces were deployed to Kirants, a border village in Armenia’s Tavush Province, on Thursday morning to ensure mine clearance in the area.
According to an official statement, the Armenian Defense Ministry started demining the Armenia-Azerbaijan border section near Kirants and Kheyremli, a village in Azerbaijan’s Gazakh region.
Expert groups from Armenia and Azerbaijan are carrying out work for reproduction of the state border in the border section based on geodetic measurements in order to ensure clarification of coordinates, the Interior Ministry reported.
"The police have enhanced service in the demined zones to prevent civilians from entering the mined areas and to ensure their safety," reads the statement.
