Opposition leader slams land handover to Azerbaijan
Seyran Ohanyan, a former Armenian defense minister leading the opposition Hayastan faction in the parliament, on Thursday accused Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government of “trampling” on national values, increasing the threats and challenges facing Armenia.
Speaking at a parliament session, the MP stated that the “chain of failures” continues today.
“This is the reason why we, as the opposition, criticize you, while you criticize the previous governments. However, in the past, some of you were the bearers of these very values and many of you were simply nothing. Now you are destroying absolutely everything,” he remarked.
Ohanyan denounced the handover of border areas in Tavush Province to Azerbaijan as part of the ongoing border delimitation and demarcation, stating that it is a consequence of the Armenian government’s conciliatory policy which began in Syunik and Gegharkunik Provinces.
