Tavush movement announces march to Yerevan
The Tavush for the Homeland movement will hold a march from the Armenian border village of Kirants to Yerevan to demand that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government stop the unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, announced on Saturday.
He met with people in Kirants to insist on an end to the illegal border delimitation and demarcation with Azerbaijan in Tavush Province and other parts of Armenia.
“This process has to stop,” Fr. Bagrat said, stressing border delimitation and demarcation should comply with Armenian laws and international agreements.
“Unilateral decisions and attempts to mislead people must be ruled out. We know that the mine clearance has already started, but it cannot prevent us from voicing our demands and achieving our goal,” he noted.
The protest march will be led by political analyst Suren Petrosyan and opposition MP Garnik Danielyan.
Marchers are expected to reach Yerevan on May 9.
