March against land handover to Azerbaijan begins in Armenia
The Tavush for the Homeland movement on Saturday started a march from the border village of Kirants to Yerevan after prayers offered by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
The march is aimed at thwarting the handover of four border villages in Tavush Province to Azerbaijan as part of a border delimitation deal.
Tavush residents, families of fallen soldiers and artists joined the prayers.
Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan knelt down and received the blessing of 96-year-old Lena Ghardashyan, who actively joined protests in and around Kirants, before the start of the march.
“Our final destination will be a spiritual Armenia, which will defeat the new Armenia with its whole system of values,” Fr. Bagrat said.
