Analyst reacts to Pashinyan's decision to skip Putin's inauguration
Analyst Sergei Melkonian, a research fellow at the Applied Policy Research Institute (APRI Armenia), has reacted to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s decision not to attend the inauguration ceremony of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The decision was unveiled by National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan on Monday.
In a social media post, Melkonian pointed to a shift in Armenia’s foreign policy priorities.
“On 3 June 2023, Nikol Pashinyan attended the inauguration ceremony of Turkish President Recep Erdogan,” the analyst recalled.
“On 7 May 2024, Nikol Pashinyan will not attend the inauguration ceremony of Russian President Vladimir Putin. No assessments, just facts! Turkey is becoming a foreign policy priority for modern Armenia," he wrote.
