Armenian sapper injured in mine blast hospitalized
An Armenian sapper, who was injured in a mine explosion in the border village of Kirants on Monday morning, was taken to the Ijevan Medical Center in Tavush Province.
The hospital declined to provide further details when contacted by Panorama.am.
This is the second case of a serviceman being injured during mine clearance in Kirants.
On April 19, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government announced a border agreement committing Armenia to ceding four Tavush villages to Azerbaijan, which sparked protests in border communities and other parts of Armenia. Days later, mine clearance began in border areas in preparation for the land handover to Azerbaijan.
