Armenia's Amberd Fortress reopens to visitors
The Amberd Fortress Historical and Cultural Reserve in Armenia’s Aragatsotn Province is reopening its doors to visitors following renovation on May 8.
It will be open every day from 10am to 6pm, the Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reservations SNCO reports.
Amberd is a 10th-century fortress located 2,300 meters (7,500 ft) above sea level, on the slopes of Mount Aragats at the confluence of the Arkashen and Amberd rivers. The name translates to "fortress in the clouds" in Armenian.
