Nationwide rally to be held in Yerevan on Thursday
The Tavush for the Homeland protest movement has announced a nationwide rally in Yerevan’s central Republic Square on Thursday 9 May.
The rally is scheduled to start at 4pm, blogger Tovmas Arakelyan, the youth bearer of the Tavush Diocese, said in a social media post on Wednesday.
Participants of the march towards Yerevan led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate of the Tavush Diocese, continue their journey from Charentsavan today and aim to reach Yerevan on May 9.
The march began in the border village of Kirants on 4 May following non-stop protests against the unilateral handover of territories in Tavush Province to Azerbaijan announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government on 19 April.
In recent days, numerous art workers, media personalities and locals from along the route have joined the march.
