Famous general joins march in Yerevan
Major-General Grigory Khachaturov on Friday joined a march towards universities in Yerevan led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan of the Tavush Diocese.
He was greeted with applause and shouts after joining protesters on Teryan Street in central Yerevan.
“Our beloved commander Grigory Khachaturov, who has been the only victorious general in the recent period, has now joined us,” Fr. Bagrat announced.
Tens of thousands of protesters gathered in the Armenian capital on Thursday to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan over his government's decision to hand over border villages to Azerbaijan.
Another rally is scheduled to be held in Yerevan's Republic Square on Friday evening.
