Tavush movement slams entry ban on French-Armenian reporter
The Tavush for the Homeland movement has denounced the entry ban imposed on French-Armenian journalist Leo Nicolian.
Nicolian has been on a hunger strike at the Yerevan airport for 20 days now after being banned from entering Armenia. The reporter’s health condition has dramatically worsened ever since, the movements said in a statement on Saturday.
In early April, Nicolian visited the village of Voskepar in Tavush Province of Armenia and interviewed Primate of the Tavush Diocese Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who has been leading the popular movement against the Armenian government’s decision to hand over four border villages to Azerbaijan.
“Nicolian believes that the decision to ban his entry into Armenia is politically motivated. Taking into account his health issues, we urge Leo Nicolian to end his hunger strike and choose other ways to fight for the restoration of justice,” reads the statement.
