Protesters led by senior cleric march to Artists' Union of Armenia
Protesters led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan marched towards the Artists’ Union of Armenia in Yerevan on Monday morning.
The archbishop was greeted by passers-by and residents of buildings on Abovyan Street from their balconies along the way.
Addressing thousands of people at a rally in Yerevan’s central Republic Square on Sunday, the senior cleric, who is leading a protest movement against the Armenian government’s unilateral land handover to Azerbaijan, called for more acts of civil disobedience on May 13, urging students and workers to boycott classes and jobs.
At the same time, he announced plans to visit the Artists’ and Writers’ Unions of Armenia, the National Academy of Sciences and other institutions.
