Archbishop Bagrat gets warm welcome at YSU
Students of Yerevan State University (YSU) on Tuesday welcomed Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan of the Tavush Diocese and protesters led by him with national music and dances at the university courtyard.
Earlier on Monday, the senior cleric called for more peaceful protests across Armenia in a push to force Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government to resign.
“The truth will prevail, no matter what,” he announced.
The archbishop cited reports of pressure on YSU professors and students not to join anti-government demonstrations as he addressed them via a megaphone
"I don't know if these reports are credible. Let them step out and refute them," the protest leader said.
He urged students to send greetings to journalist Mary Manukyan who lost consciousness due to police violence and was hospitalized on Monday.
