Armenia, India hold first defense consultations
The first defense consultations between the Defense Ministries of Armenia and India were held at the Armenian Defense Ministry on Tuesday,
The meeting was chaired by Levon Ayvazyan, head of the Department of Defense Policy and International Cooperation at the Armenian Defense Ministry, and Joint Secretary for International Cooperation of the Indian Defense Ministry Vishwesh Negi.
The consultations were also attended by India's Ambassador to Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha and Defence Attaché, Brigadier General Naveen Nijhawan, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported.
During the consultations, the present state of cooperation between Armenia and India in the defense sector and prospects for future development, including military-technical, military education and combat training of personnel, exchange of experience and others, were discussed.
Additionally, the meeting addressed issues related to regional security.
Levon Ayvazyan provided an overview of the ongoing reforms within the armed forces of Armenia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the protocol on the results of the consultations was signed, which approved the Cooperation Plan between the Defense Ministries of Armenia and India for the years 2024-2025, and provided for the establishment of a joint working group on the issues of bilateral defense cooperation.
