Armenian border villagers block interstate highway
Residents of Kirants, a border village in Armenia’s Tavush Province, have blocked the local section of the Armenia-Georgia interstate highway to protest against the demarcation deal envisaging the surrender of adjacent border areas to Azerbaijan.
Earlier on Thursday, they rejected a meeting with government officials in the town of Ijevan.
The protest came after the Armenian and Azerbaijani border delimitation commissions on Wednesday signed a protocol formalizing the "adjustment of coordinates based on the geodetic measurements on the ground" based on Soviet-era maps.
