Opposition MP meets with detained Tavush protesters
MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction on Friday visited the Nubarashen Penitentiary to meet with four activists detained as a result of the Armenian government’s provocations in Tavush Province in late April.
“The authorities initially tried to isolate the people with active civic engagement in Tavush. Later, after the transfer of the movement to Yerevan, they also resorted to other actions,” he posted on Facebook.
“Any Armenian fighting for the defense of the homeland and national dignity is an enemy to the current leadership and they are ready for the most unacceptable steps to put such people out of action,” the MP wrote.
Abrahamyan also visited five members of the Azatazen NGO "unreasonably" detained and held in the Abovyan detention center.
