Armenian minister meets with border villagers affected by land surrender
Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan on Saturday travelled to the border village of Kirants in Tavush Province to meet with local residents strongly opposing the land handover to Azerbaijan.
Unlike several other Tavush villages affected by the territorial concessions as part of a border deal with Azerbaijan, Kirants would lose two of its houses and a bridge connecting it to the rest of Armenia apart from its agricultural lands.
Many other houses and the school in the village would be located a few dozen meters away from the new Azerbaijani border posts.
In a live social media video from Kirants posted by reporter Ani Gevorgyan, the village men can be heard asking the minister where the Armenian border guards will be deployed following the border demarcation with Azerbaijan.
