Police deploy heavy presence to Armenian border village
A large contingent of police forces was deployed to Kirants, a border village in Armenia's Tavush Province, early on Monday ahead of the visit of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.
The senior cleric leading a protest movement against the Armenian government's unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan unveiled his plans to visit the border village on Sunday.
"Police officers have sieged Kirants," the Tavush for the Homeland movement wrote on Facebook, posting photos.
Unlike several other Tavush villages affected by the territorial concessions, Kirants would lose some of its houses and a bridge connecting it to the rest of Armenia apart from its agricultural lands.
