Archbishop Bagrat enters border village cordoned off by police
Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, the leader of a protest movement against the Armenian government’s unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan, has entered the border village of Kirants in Armenia’s Tavush Province which is cordoned off by police forces.
The senior cleric was denied access to the village earlier on Monday.
Asked how he managed to enter the village, Archbishop Bagrat smile and said, "through the direct way".
Meanwhile, opposition MP Artur Sargsyan said police officers refused to allow him to enter the village along with the cleric.
The police on Sunday again blocked the roads leading to the village hit hardest by the Armenian government’s decision to cede four local border areas to Azerbaijan. Only local residents are allowed to enter or exit it.
