Luxembourg parliament speaker urges Baku to immediately release Armenian prisoners
Claude Wiseler, President of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies, called on Azerbaijan to immediately release all Armenian prisoners and provide information on the missing persons as he addressed the Armenian parliament on Wednesday.
He called out Baku for its military takeover of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) in September 2023 and the forced displacement of its more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians.
The Luxembourg parliament speaker pledged continued EU mediation efforts between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"I sincerely hope that the peace talks will succeed. However, until a lasting peace is achieved, it’s essential to create an environment where open, honest and constructive dialogue can develop,” he said.
“Let's make efforts to eliminate all obstacles. Therefore, we urgently demand that Baku immediately release all prisoners of war and provide comprehensive information on the missing persons. Justice and humanity require the release of these people without delay,” Wiseler added.
