Pro-government MP: 208 sq. km of Armenian territory occupied by Azerbaijan
A total of 208 square kilometers of Armenia's territory remains occupied by Azerbaijan, pro-government MP Hayk Konjoryan said on Wednesday.
“Armenia’s sovereign territory includes 29,743 square kilometers. 208 sq. km of the sovereign Armenian territory is occupied by Azerbaijan,” he said at a parliament sitting, responding to his opposition colleagues.
Konjoryan, who leads the ruling Civil Contract party's parliamentary faction, recalled that a part of that territory was seized by Azerbaijan back in the 1990s, while an area of around 139 square kilometers was occupied as of May 2021.
