Armenian singer's son released
A court in Yerevan has ordered the release of Hrachya Ghevondyan, the son of popular Armenian singer Hayk Ghevondyan (better known as Spitaktsi Hayko), his lawyer Erik Aleksanyan reports.
“The court denied the investigator’s motion [to hold him in detention] due to a lack of reasonable suspicion. Hrachya Ghevondyan was released from the courtroom," he wrote on Facebook on Thursday, posting a photo with the man.
Ghevondyan was arrested on suspicion of plotting a “seizure of power” in Armenia on Wednesday.
The young man has been actively involved in protests against the Armenian government’s unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan.
