Armenian border guards take charge of Tavush border areas
Armenia is pulling back its troops from the border areas in Tavush Province and deploying border guards there.
In a statement on Friday, the National Security Service (NSS) said Armenia’s border guards were officially taking over the protection of border sections near the villages of Berkaber (1.9 km), Voskepar and Baghanis (4.9 km) in Tavush Province.
“The protection of the 5.8-km border stretch near the settlement of Kirants will be carried out under a transition scheme until July 24,” the NSS said.
“Similarly, starting from May 24, the protection of the opposite border areas will be carried out by units of Azerbaijan’s State Border Service,” reads the statement.
