Expert reacts to arrests of Artsakh officials in Armenia
Varuzhan Geghamyan, a geopolitical strategist and regional security expert, has reacted to the recent arrests of Artsakh officials in Armenia.
Martakert Mayor Misha Gyurjyan was arrested on Saturday. Earlier on Thursday, Askeran Mayor Hayk Shamiryan was arrested after law enforcement officers searched his home. A court in Yerevan ordered a house arrest for him on Friday.
"Artsakh’s political and military leaders have factually been held captive in Baku prisons for several months now. In the Republic of Armenia, Artsakh officials have been arrested and are facing charges,” the expert wrote on Telegram on Saturday.
“It feels that the Turkish social media platforms correctly call Armenia's de facto authorities “our governor of Ermenistan”,” Geghamyan added.
