Mkhitaryan says he wants to reach another Champions League final with Inter
Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan doesn’t hide that he wants to reach another Champions League final, SempreInter.com reports.
The 35-year-old spoke to Turin-based newspaper La Stampa in an interview published in the May 25 print edition, via FCInterNews.
Mkhitaryan helped Inter to reach last season’s Champions League final.
The Armenian was only able to play as a substitute in the final, as he was just coming back from injury.
However, Mkhitaryan had played a vital role in the Nerazzurri’s run through the knockouts. This included an important goal against city rivals AC Milan in the semifinals.
This season, Inter’s Champions League campaign ended in disappointment.
The Nerazzurri had at one point led 2-0 on aggregate in their round of sixteen tie against Atletico Madrid. However, they capitulated and ended up exiting the competition on penalties.
Mkhitaryan made clear that “I’d like to play in another final. And to win it.”
“We didn’t deserve to lose against Manchester City,” the Inter midfielder continued.
“There are certain matches that only come once or twice in a lifetime,” he continued.
“We talked a lot to try and understand what we could do better,” Mkhitaryan said of the final against City. “It made us stronger.”
“And I’d also like to score a few more goals, like when I played as a second striker or an attacking midfielder.”
Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan also gave his thoughts on his coach Simone Inzaghi.
“He gives us a lot of motivation,” the 35-year-old said.
“Before each training session he talks about the matches from the day before. He always has some episode that he analyzes.”
