Wreath laid by Armenian religious leader removed from Sardarapat Memorial
A wreath laid by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II at the Sardarapat Memorial on Tuesday to mark the 106th anniversary of the first Armenian republic has been removed from the area, Rev. Fr. Ruben Zargaryan from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin reported.
“The wreath laid by the Catholicos of All Armenians has cowardly been removed from the Sardarapat Memorial,” he wrote on Facebook, sharing a photo.
"The government relying on police forces is on the verge of collapse,” the cleric added.
Earlier on Tuesday, police officers stationed at the Sardarapat Memorial attempted to block the entry of Catholicos Karekin II and many other clergymen ahead of Prime Mister Nikol Pashinyan's visit.
