More people urged to join protest in central Yerevan
A protest led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan will continue in Yerevan’s central Republic Square outside the Armenian government building after the end of the working day.
“The working day ends at 6pm. I urge all to join in after finishing work and give us new strength and inspiration,” he announced.
Protesters plan to block Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s exit from the government building.
Demonstrators led by the archbishop on Thursday gathered outside the Armenian government headquarters where Pashinyan was chairing a weekly cabinet meeting. They also blocked traffic in the area with their cars.
"We've gathered here to tell this man [Pashinyan] that he has nothing to do in this country," Galstanyan said at the rally.
